GOING TO
MARS
By Makenzie
Today is the day for the Mars crew to
go to the station. Captain Peter said to the guys, “We’re here! Let’s
go change to our suits for the mission.”
John, Bob, and Jake said goodbye to their wives and children. Then they went into
the building to put on their astronaut suits.
The crew got into the rocket and buckled up. Captain Peter counted down, “Ten,
nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, ONE….Blast Off!”
The rocket went up into the air and left the earth. They came to outer space and
saw Mars. Bob yelled, “I am so excited! In a short time, we are gong to
experience living on Mars!”
Captain Peter talked loud to his crew and said, “All right Buds, buckle
up. We’re landing on Mars!” The guys put on their helmets, oxygen,
and walkie-talkies. Next, they put on their special shoes that weighted their
feet down so they would not float around.
The Captain felt really nervous and said, “All right, Bob. Can you open
the door?” Captain Peter stepped out first and then the others followed
him.
Jake fell down and said, “Mars is really rocky!”
Then Bob yelled, “You’ve got that right!” John and Captain Peter
laughed.
John said, “These are the hugest rocks in the world.”
Captain Peter said, “I may take a tiny one back for a souvenir.”
“Hey guys! I have an idea,” Bob shouted. “Let’s take off
our shoes and play hopscotch.”
They all said, “Yeah!” Jake found a piece of rock and scratched the
numbers to play hopscotch.
Captain Peter said, “I don’t think this is a good idea to take off
our shoes.”
They started playing and Bob took a big jump. He started floating around and he
said, “Look at me. I’m flying.”
Captain Peter yelled, “Hang on Bob. We’ll catch you.” John got
a rope from the ship and caught Bob and pulled him back to Mars.
Around 7:00 there was a dust storm. They saw red dust coming toward them. Jake,
John, and Captain Peter got in the ship. Bob saw red, thick sand coming toward
him. Then suddenly Captain Peter realized that Bob forgot to get in the ship.
The Captain got on the radio and said, “May Day! May Day! Bob got stuck
in the sand storm! May Day! May Day!” Then John got a rope and tossed the
rope like a cowboy and got Bob. John pulled him to the ship.
Captain Peter said, “Before we go to sleep, I just want to say we had a
long day today. And tomorrow we are going back home!” The next morning they
got dressed, buckled up, and started heading back to earth. Captain Peter said,
“Ten, night, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, ONE….Blast
off! EARTH HERE WE COME!”
