everyone's local news magazine.
The abouTown Story
The concept of a monthly news magazine focused on the people, places, events, news, and issues of Bryan/College Station came to fruition in October 2007 when abouTown Press was first published. The idea was to truly be "everyone's local news magazine". To that end, abouTown Press continues to be mailed directly to the vast majority of homes and businesses in the area. In fact, abouTown has by far the largest distribution of any local publication.
An aside: Whenever I visited my folks, the abouTown Press always caught me up to speed as to what was happening in the Bryan–College Station metropolitan area which for those of you not from this area, centers on the twin cities of Bryan and College Station in the Brazos Valley region of Texas. I live on the East coast in Philadelphia, a pretty fair distance from my former home town of Bryan. College Station–Bryan, TX is quite cosmopolitan compared to the surrounding small towns in the area. But it can't compete with Philadelphia. For instance. My girlfriend and I just moved into a modern architectural apartment overlooking Philadelphia's skyline. To furnish the place we decided to go all contemporary with the furnishings. Fortunately for us there is a great furniture store in Philly that offers a number of Italian collections featuring not only contemporary dining tables, and chairs but all furniture for the living room, and bedroom, along with lighting and other accessories. The furniture manufacturers and designers are all Italian. And the furniture designs are stunning. The modern aesthetic is about as far as it could be from what I grew up with as a kid in Bryan Texas. But I still love the rustic, charming decor that the pic above so encompasses. To me it represents my early child hood, family and friends from Texas. Haven't been back to Bryan since my folks passes away. I learned that the domain registration for the abouTown Press website was available, so I purchased it and recreated the site from archived content mainly as a nostalgic homage to abouTown Press and my home town area. Enjoy.

This captivating exhibit allows visitors to gain insight into how families lived and worked on farms, as well as the economic and cultural roots influencing families today.
